Hm magical melody1/17/2024 ![]() ![]() They also say unique stuff at the festivals but only a select number of NPC (with the highest heart levels) show up at festivals so again, it’s hard to hear all of it. Most of the time they just say their heart level dialogues, but when they go to visit people or special places (like the cave) they’ll have unique dialogue. The character have a lot to say, but it’s hard to see all of it because it’s location dependent, and if you talk to them once, you can’t talk to them again (well you can but they just say bye). It’s probably my favorite cast of any HM game, non romance option too. Regardless of your type, you’ll find someone you like. There are 10 bachelors and 10 bachelorettes (technically 11 but the special one ends the game). The cast is huge! And it consists (mostly) of past HM characters from SNES and Save the Homeland. That was a great concept I wish they kept. I love setting up my farm and home next to my spouses place of work. One of my favorite parts, that no HM or SoS has done since, is the town and farm area are the same, more or less, and you can buy land all over, really letting you live almost anywhere. Magical Melody holds a spot on my top tier Harvest Moon games list (I can’t pick one favorite lol). ![]() It’s quite easy to own a ton of the land in that game, so having to ship lots of clay, yarn, fruit and dairy products to keep certain shops open made it really feel like the town was depending on you as the biggest moneymaker. The shipping box is a one way box, so don’t drop in anything you need.ĭespite all that though, I found the simplicity of it enjoyable and I personally loved the village building aspect being dependent on what you ship. Heart events are limited to characters pounding on your door to give you a gift in the morning. Try to talk to them again that day and all they’ll say is “Leave me alone” until the next day. For example, talk to Jamie at the start of the day and they’ll tell you that they hate people. NPCs also have one line of new dialogue per day then they switch to a default line for the rest of the day. When the stores close for the day, unless the NPCs hit up the bar after work, you’re not able to go into their homes and give them gifts. Everyone moves really slow, from the cows to the characters. That said, I can’t say the gameplay has aged very well. Probably one of my favorite towns in the series since it’s all on one screen and there are lots of books and crannies to get into. ![]()
